| We at the Genesis Trust would like to
provide you with the opportunity to not only
contribute to the future of a child, but also to
become part of the life of that child. We do not
believe in asking for money without return, but
believe that you can have the opportunity of
getting to know a child whilst paying for
his/her education.

About MySchool
The MySchool acts as a channel which
raises and delivers essential funding to
schools and charities in order to
improve education and social development
in South Africa. This enables members of
the community to participate in the
future development of our nation in a
sustainable way. |
|
The program gives parents and other
community-minded individuals a vehicle through
which to they can make a meaningful contribution
to schools, in a convenient and transparent
manner. This is not a donation service, but a
true partnership between schools and business
partners.
|
How MySchool works
My School effectively facilitates charity
support on behalf of a range of business
partners who have a specific interest in
education. The fundraising program is a
partnership between business partners, consumer
supporters and schools; all striving to create a
better future for learners in South Africa.
Approximately 600 000 parents and community
minded individuals have MySchool supporter
cards.
Supporters use their MySchool supporter cards
whenever they transact with one of the MySchool
business partners. A small percentage of their
transaction is then allocated to their
beneficiary school or charity. All these
transactions are recorded and a statement is
sent to individual supporters on a monthly
basis.
The supporter card is not a debit or credit but
serves as a measure through which valuable
supporter data, such as transactions and funds
raised for a particular school, are tracked.
How do I register/apply?

Trees4Education
Genesis Trust together with the
organisation Trees4Schools are putting
forces together to launch a project that
will change the lives of many
underprivileged children in the Western
Cape.
The Trees4Schools Trust was adopted as
the Corporate Social Initiative of the
South African division of coffee company
Miko's Fairtrade and Fairtrade Organic
coffee offering Puro. Locally Puro has
gone one step further to support the
Trees4Schools Trust by donating a
percentage of their local turnover to
the trust.
The aim of the project is to plant 1 000
trees during the month of September
(Arbour month) at 10 different schools
in previously disadvantaged areas of
Cape Town. A selection of trees will be
planted according to area, type of soil
and environmental factors. The
Trees4Schools team will be visiting each
school to educate them on the care that
goes into not only planting a tree but
sustaining the environment. |
|
|
Education and the Environment – why
plant a tree?
• Education
Through planting a tree we not only
provide shade and a green picture at
schools in previously disadvantaged
communities, but you will enable that
children from those schools have the
opportunity to obtain a tertiary
education. Those children will be given
the chance to rise from their
circumstances and become an educated
independent and self sufficient adult.
The core of our countries problems is
unemployment and poverty! Help us to
solve that problem by educating children
and removing them from the vicious cycle
which they have been caught in.
• Environment
1 000 000 trees planted in Los Angeles
helped to remove a total of 200 tons of
air pollution. The Genesis Trust and
Trees4Schools project will be an annual
event and in 10 years we will be able to
also remove 200 tons of air pollution
out of the skies of the Western Cape.
Help us to make this dream a reality and
not only educate our children, but teach
them that the conservation of our
environment is also in their hands.
Planting trees is one of the best things
you can do for the local environment and
for the planet. It’s no secret that
trees help the environment, but you may
be surprised by all the benefits that
planting trees can provide. Besides
producing oxygen and removing carbon
dioxide and contaminants from the air,
trees have many other social, economic,
and environmental benefits.
• Community upliftment
Just being around trees makes you feel
good. Can you imagine your community
without trees? Trees, especially in
urban areas, have numerous social
benefits. For example, the addition of
trees to a neighbourhood and school can
greatly improve the mental and physical
health of children and residents |
