| Wine
& Food pairing |
| |
| On 26 May 2010 the GClub hosted a Wine &
Food Pairing event at the @Hills restaurant
(Durbanville Hills Wine Estate). Martin Moore,
cellar master and winemaker at Durbanville
Hills, entertained the 100 guessed by showcasing
the art of pairing the correct food with
suitable wines. Three lucky guests also walked
away with fantastic prizes, including a R500
dinner voucher at the Bombay Brassirie
restaurant (Taj Hotel, Cape Town), a wine hamper
including 6 bottles of Caapmans Cabernet Merlot
2005 valued at R1 200, and a bed & breakfast
voucher from Lanzerac, including a spa
treatment, to the value of R3 400. |

| Joberg2C |
| |
On 23 April 2010, Callie Fourie, a friend
and supporter of the Genesis Trust, embarked on
the Joberg2C Mountain Bike Challenge for the
benefit of the Genesis Trust. Callie was invited
by the sponsors of the event, Fairbarn Capital,
to be a sponsored rider in the race. He
volunteered to compete for Genesis Trust. We
prepared a pledge form which was distributed to
our network of like-minded people who support
the Genesis Trust.
We followed the good and bad of the race on our
blog, while holdings thumbs as the money was
streaming in for the Trust. During the race
Callie felt like quitting a few times, but
remembering that his participation will ensure
an education and ultimately a future for a child
without hope, he stayed in his saddle. With this
effort we have raised almost R22 000 - enough to
pay for a child’s accommodation for a whole
year! Read

| Comrades Marathon |
| |
| On the 1st of May 2010 four road-runners
took on the challenge of the “Ultimate Human
Race”, the Comrades Marathon, for the benefit of
Genesis Trust. Rassie Wentzel, Wilet Pothas,
Terry Deats and Marlene Harris had a different
goal in mind this time – do your best for the
kids! Through the hardships and pain these
runners pulled through and with the combined
effort they raised almost R28 000 - enough to
pay for a child’s studies for a whole year! We
are eternally grateful and would like to invite
any sportsman and sportswoman to rise to the
challenge and do it for the Genesis Trust!
